Professor Amy J. Schmitz will present on the topic of “OArb” as part of the McGill Journal of Dispute Resolution (MJDR) Arbitration Symposium “Online Dispute Resolution and Arbitration: A Brave New World” on January 20, 2021 starting at 4 pm (CT). “OArb” is the label Professor Schmitz has developed over the past 15 years to distinguish online arbitration from other forms of nonbinding online dispute resolution (ODR). This year’s symposium will focus on online dispute resolution and arbitration proceedings, specifically the impact of the pandemic on the way in which hearings are conducted as well as the anticipated future impacts. Professor Schmitz was invited due to her expertise in the area, and many publications as well as her work interviewing nearly 60 arbitration experts in the wake of the pandemic through her popular web series, The Arbitration Conversation.
The symposium is hosted by the McGill University School of Law, in Montreal, Canada, via Zoom. Registration is available online Those registered will receive the meeting link a few days before the symposium.
