Professor Amy J. Schmitz recently presented on technology in dispute system design at Stanford Law School. For her part, Professor Schmitz built on her recent article, Online Dispute Resolution for Smart Contracts, 2019 J. OF DISPUTE RESOLUTION 203 – 125 (2019), and discussed how online dispute resolution (ODR) may effectively provide a form of governance within the blockchain structure. The rise of blockchain and “smart contracts” built in computer code have generated a great amount of legal debate regarding enforcement and governance, making these issues timely and important.”
