Professor Amy J. Schmitz recently gave a presentation at the Hong Kong Mediation Conference of the Hong Kong Department of Justice. For her part, Professor Schmitz provided insights regarding her experience with the United Nations Working Group, which sought to establish procedural rules for a global online dispute resolution process for small dollar claims. She also discussed how impetus for the Working Group helped shape ideas for The New Handshake: Online Dispute Resolution and the Future of Consumer Protection, her recent book with Colin Rule. Professor Schmitz was the only American among an invited group of speakers who included policy leaders and dispute resolution experts from around the world.
