Professor S.I. Strong was invited recently to Orlando to discuss the new UNCITRAL instrument on international commercial mediation at the Florida Bar Association annual meeting. The convention, which was triggered by Professor Strong’s article, “Beyond International Commercial Arbitration? The Promise of International Commercial Mediation,” 45 Washington University Journal of Law & Policy 11 (2014), is expected to be finalized later this month at the annual meeting of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) in New York. Once adopted, the convention is expected to be signed at an event in Singapore and thereafter to be known as the Singapore Convention.
