Professor S.I. Strong recently traveled to Singapore to attend the signing ceremony of the new United Nations Convention on International Settlement Agreements Arising From Mediation, more commonly known as the Singapore Convention on Mediation. The convention was triggered by proposals made in Professor Strong’s early article, “Beyond International Commercial Arbitration? The Promise of International Commercial Mediation,” 45 Washington University Journal of Law & Policy 11 (2014), and Professor Strong participated in the deliberations at the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) as a non-governmental observer.
Several Mizzou students were able to attend meetings at the United Nations along with Professor Strong. Professor Strong was also invited to speak on a panel organized by the International Bar Association (IBA) on international commercial mediation as part of the Singapore Convention Week activities.
