School of Law to Host Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District

The Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District, will convene court at the School of Law on Tuesday, April 2.

Presiding Judge Edward Ardini, Jr., Judge Mark Pfeiffer, ’92, and Judge Gary Witt, ’90 will hear oral arguments at Hulston Hall in four cases beginning at 1:30 p.m. The judges will also take time to discuss the court system, explain the proceedings, and take questions from the audience.

The School of Law has become a regular stop for the Western District when it convenes court away from the courthouse in Kansas City. The court convenes oral arguments outside of Kansas City to give individuals an opportunity to observe a part of the judicial system they do not normally see, and familiarize those attending with the court’s role in the judicial system. The court has jurisdiction over appeals from trial courts in 45 counties, which include all of northwest Missouri and most of central Missouri.
