Tenth Annual University of Missouri Patent Law Moot Court Competition

Fifteen students wrote briefs and presented oral arguments in a mock-version of a pending infringement lawsuit involving patented printing and computer storage technology. (One of the patented products was on Martha Stewart.

Overall winner of the competition this year was 2L Emily Weber who will receive the $1,000 prize sponsored by McKool Smith. Runner-up was 2L Andrew Meyer. There were a number of contenders for the top prize, with five additional students being ranked by at least one judge as top oral advocate of the competition: 2L Marissa Gonzalez, 3L Abigail Greene, 2L Homayoon Rafatijo, 2L Emily Bergman, and 2L Andrew Krokstrom. Congratulations!

Because of the online format, judges joined from across the country, including some of the nation’s top patent attorneys and litigators. The next competition is expected to be held in Fall 2021 as an element of the Patent Law course.
