About Brooke Buerck
Hi, my name is Brooke Buerck and I am excited you are interested in Mizzou Law! I am originally from Perryville, Mo., and am in my first year here at the law school. Please feel free to read more about me below and reach out if you have questions or want to learn more!
I had always been interested in Mizzou and applied as an undergraduate, but instead chose to attend Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where I majored in English literature and minored in Spanish. While at Southern, I spent two years working at the student-led news organization, and my time as a student journalist helped me fully realize my interest in attending law school. I had opportunities to learn how the law intersects with a community though meeting local politicians, candidates for office, and important officials, as well as covering a major election and protests.
I chose Mizzou partly because of the great impression I had gotten from the school when I visited while I was still in high school. Even more importantly though, I felt welcomed by the law school community from my very first interactions with students, faculty, and staff here, and I truly feel like this community wants to see me succeed. The campus as well as Columbia more generally have a lot of resources to offer, and it is an exciting place to live.
