About Lisa Key

Dean Key has served as the Assistant Dean for Career Development and Student Services at Mizzou Law since 2011. Prior to stepping into this role, she served on the faculty at the law school for 10 years. She has long been interested in the professional development of law students and enjoys helping them find their own unique path to success and fulfillment. She often presents at professional conferences and has published several articles on law student professional development and career counseling.

In addition to teaching law school courses in tax, business planning, and family law, Dean Key has had a wide range of legal experiences that have contributed to her ability to counsel students about their careers. She practiced corporate and transactional law at King & Spalding, and later with a smaller, boutique firm in Atlanta. She also started her own family law firm in Kansas City and turned it into a successful and profitable business. Dean Key has been involved with numerous professional and charitable organizations, and has served as an officer and member of the board of directors for several of these.

Dean Key graduated with honors with a Bachelor’s in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and earned her JD cum laude from Northwestern University School of Law.
