The Center for the Study of Dispute Resolution at the University of Missouri School of Law and the National Academy of Arbitrators (NAA) are conducting their annual writing competition for the best articles relating to labor and employment dispute resolution. Winners will be published in the Law School’s Journal of Dispute Resolution (JDR). With a generous grant from the NAA Research and Education Foundation, this initiative encourages research and scholarship in the labor and employment field. This annual competition awards a $3,000 prize for the best published article by an author in academia or professional practice, and a $1,000 award for the best published comment by a current law or graduate student.

Articles under consideration should not have been published previously in another setting—their first publication must be in the JDR. If the winning article has multiple authors, the cash prize will be distributed equally among the authors.

A selection committee comprised of NAA and Missouri Law faculty members will select the winning articles and announce its decision by the end of the calendar year. Articles for this competition should be submitted by email to: jdr@missouri.edu, with “Labor/Employment DR” in the subject line. The deadline for submissions for the 2023 awards is 11:59pm on September 15, 2023.

For more information, please contact: Allison Garrett, Editor-in-Chief, JDR, amgfmk@mail.missouri.edu or Professor Rachel Wechsler, Center for the Study of Dispute Resolution, Rachel.Wechsler@missouri.edu. We are also still accepting other articles related to alternative dispute resolution to be considered for publication in our Winter 2024 issue.
