About Martha Kleinhesselink

Martha (Bradley) Kleinhesselink is the inaugural Ben and Carolyn Thomas Fellow in the Veterans Clinic at the University of Missouri School of Law. Martha works as an attorney in the Clinic representing veterans and focuses much of her work on the Clinic’s rural outreach program, Tigers for Troops. Through this program, the Clinic holds free legal consultations for veterans in rural Missouri who have less access to necessary veteran resources. Martha also plans and executes free CLE programming for Missouri attorneys who are interested in representing veterans in their pro bono practice.

She is originally from Farmington, Missouri, and is a graduate of Central Methodist University (2018) in Fayette, Missouri. Martha received degrees in Political Science and Criminal Justice. She was the Student Government Association president and captain of CMU’s track and field team. Martha earned her JD from Mizzou Law (2021).

Martha discovered her passion for helping veterans many years ago and entered law school with the hope that she would use her law degree to give back to servicemembers and/or veterans in some capacity. After working in the Mizzou Law Veterans Clinic as a law student, under leadership from Angela Drake and Brent Filbert, Martha’s passion was solidified. The Thomas Fellowship provides Martha an opportunity she felt she could not pass up.

Martha is a member of the Missouri Bar Association, the CAVC Bar Association, the National Organization of Veterans Advocates, and is a VA Accredited Attorney.

Martha lives in Columbia with her husband, Paden, and their goldendoodle, Dolly. In her free time, she enjoys traveling to historic parts of Missouri, watching track meets, spending time with friends and family, and being involved in her local church, The Crossing. She is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Columbia, where she is on the Board of Directors, and the Columbia Chamber of Commerce Women’s Network.
