Judy Named President of Kansas City Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners

Mary Jane Judy, ’06, was appointed by Kansas City, Mo., Mayor Sly James as president of the Board of Kansas City Parks and Recreation Commissioners. Judy becomes the fourth female president in the organization’s 128-year history, having served as a commissioner since 2013.

Judy is a Polsinelli shareholder and is a member of the firm’s national real estate practice. She specializes in complex real estate transactions. Judy represents clients in commercial leases, as well as acquisitions and sales of real property, often as a component of larger asset purchases or sales. She specializes in leading large portfolio transactions and advises health care clients on unique regulatory issues related to their real estate holdings.

Judy will lead the five volunteer members of the Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners in bi-monthly meetings and work with the director and deputy director on organizational operations, administrative functions and governance, to ensure quality programming and services are provided to the community.

Judy currently also serves on the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce Executive Women’s Leadership Council, and sits on the boards of the Committee for County Progress, the National World War I Museum and Memorial, and the University of Missouri School of Law’s Tigers ’06 Scholarship program. She has previously served as chair of the city’s Liquor Control Board of Review, the Kansas City Museum Foundation board, and as a mentor for the Chamber’s PowerConnections program.

For the past three years, Judy has been recognized on the Kansas & Missouri Super Lawyers’ “Rising Star” list and this year was included among the Best Lawyers in America published in U.S. News and World Report. In 2016, Ingram’s Magazine named her a “40 Under Forty” recipient. In 2014, she was selected for inclusion in Missouri Lawyers Weekly’s “Up & Coming” list.
