Mark Shank, ’79, receives Texas Bar Foundation award

Mark A. Shank, ’79, of Dallas received the 2023 Terry Lee Grantham Memorial Award from the Texas Bar Foundation. The Terry Lee Grantham Memorial Award was endowed through the Texas Bar Foundation in 2014 in honor and memory of Terry Lee Grantham by his family and friends who were so richly blessed by his love, friendship and presence in their lives.

As an enduring tribute to Terry Grantham’s life and work in the practice of law, this award is made annually to an outstanding Texas lawyer. The award celebrates Grantham’s life as a gifted and committed man and lawyer who devoted himself completely to every task he undertook. The recipient of this award exemplifies the qualities of an accomplished, talented and dedicated practitioner, a servant of the profession and an advocate for those we serve, demonstrating dedication and service with the same passion that defined Grantham’s life and work.

Mark A. Shank is a lawyer, arbitrator, and mediator with nearly four decades of experience in high-stakes commercial and employment disputes. He has been recognized by Chambers USA, Best Lawyers in America, and Texas Super Lawyers (top 100 in Texas). Mark is a Fellow of the College of Commercial Arbitrators, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and the American College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. He is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law and Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He is a former President of the Dallas Bar Association. While President of the Dallas Bar Association he led the effort to raise $14 million to build a new headquarters. Other awards he has won include D Magazine Best Lawyers Hall of Fame, Texas Bar Foundation Dan Rugeley Price Award (2018), Dallas Bar Foundation Fellow Justinian Award (2016), and the Judge Sam Williams

Shank will be publicly recognized and be presented the Terry Lee Grantham Memorial Award at the Texas Bar Foundation Annual Dinner held on June 23, 2023 at the JW Marriott Austin.
