LLM Financial Information

University Financial Aid maintains an office in the Law School, in Room 110, phone (573) 882-1383 or (573) 882-7506. Office hours are posted. For financial aid other than departmental scholarships, students should contact that office.

Financial Support from the LLM Program

The LLM Program offers limited departmental financial support to full-time students — the Rankin M. Gibson LLM Scholarship and the LLM Fellowship. In general, LLM students with departmental financial support receive funding for one semester. For the total proposed tuition, fees, and other expenses, see https://law.missouri.edu/csdr/llm/expenses.html.

The application form for department funding explains the two different awards and provides instructions on how to apply. The Law School does not offer graduate teaching or graduate research assistantships.

Applicants can address funding questions to the LLM Program Coordinator at (573) 882-5969 or mulawcdr@missouri.edu.

New York Summer Externship Fellowship

Each year, the LLM Program provides a substantial fellowship to cover expenses related to a summer externship with major organizations in the field such as the American Arbitration Association or the International Institute for Conflict Prevention & Resolution in New York City. This opportunity is available only to LLM students who do this for externship course credit. This program is available through the generosity of the Husch Blackwell LLP law firm in Kansas City, Missouri.

Financial Support for All Graduate Students

The MU Graduate School maintains a web site with additional financial support information.

Weinstein Fellowship for International Students

The Weinstein International Fellowship program provides opportunities for individuals from outside the United States to visit the U.S. to learn more about dispute resolution processes and practices and to pursue a project of their own design that serves to advance the resolution of disputes in their home countries. It is sponsored by the JAMS Foundation. For more information, see http://www.jamsadr.com/weinstein-fellowship/.
