The University of Missouri School of Law continues a spring of growth with the exciting announcement that Renee Henson will join the Mizzou Law faculty this summer.  Professor Henson will serve as visiting assistant professor of law at Mizzou Law.

Professor Henson arrives at Mizzou from Stinson LLP, where she practiced as a business and commercial litigation attorney representing clients engaged in complex matters including trademark and copyright infringement and products liability lawsuits. Henson received recognition as a Top Verdict and Settlement Winner by Missouri Lawyer’s Media in 2023 and was named on the Lawyers of Color, “Hot List” in 2022.

“We are so excited that Professor Henson will join us this summer,” said Paul Litton, dean of Mizzou Law. “Professor Henson has extensive commercial litigation experience, with expertise in intellectual property and products liability, and she is embarking on exciting research at the intersection of those areas of law. She has served as a mentor to junior associates, and, from knowing her for many years, I know she will be an inspiring mentor and teacher at our law school.”

Professor Henson’s recent scholarship, “An Analysis of Product Liability Law’s Applicability to AI and Other Non-Tangible Products,” is forthcoming. The article will examine the nexus between products liability and intellectual property law, analyzing whether strict liability is an appropriate area of law to handle the dangers associated with emerging technology, specifically artificial intelligence.

Before joining Mizzou Law, Professor Henson also practiced law at the University of Missouri’s Office of General Counsel. Professor Henson graduated from Mizzou Law and served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Business, Entrepreneurship & Tax Law Review. Henson received her Bachelor of Arts from Columbia College magna cum laude with distinction.
