About Caroline Heckemeyer, 1L
Hometown: Sikeston, Mo.
Undergraduate: Loyola University Chicago
Major: Political Science
Having grown up in rural Missouri before pursuing my undergraduate degree and career in Chicago, I wanted to find my “Goldilocks” setting for this chapter of my life– a happy medium between the comfort of a small town and the energy of a larger city. Mizzou Law was that perfect fit for me: a reputable institution that values both academic excellence and genuine community. Plus, Columbia is a wonderful place to live when you’re not knee-deep in casebooks!
As a student, I feel supported in my learning, professional development, and personal growth. It is so great to be in an academic environment in which your professors, classmates, and the incredible law school staff genuinely care about you as a person and as a professional.
At Mizzou Law, I serve as a class rep for the Student Bar Association and am involved in the Women’s Law Association, American Constitution Society, and the Student Ambassador Program. I graduated from Loyola University Chicago in 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in political science and spent time working in politics before returning to Missouri for law school. After graduation, I hope to pursue a career in government relations and public policy. Outside of school, I enjoy long walks, traveling to visit friends, and fishing.
