Mizzou Law Announces Bar Prep Program for All Graduating Students

Officials at Mizzou Law are excited to announce a partnership with Helix Bar Review to provide bar exam preparatory resources to all graduating Mizzou Law 3Ls, beginning this semester. Helix Bar Review is a state-of-the-art bar prep program created by the nonprofit organization AccessLex Institute to provide a best-in-class, full-service bar review course designed for today’s law student. New state funding allows Mizzou Law to reopen Family Violence Clinic

Mizzou Law Hires Anthony Meyer, ’18, as New Visiting Associate Professor

Leaders at the University of Missouri School of Law are excited to announce that Anthony Meyer will be joining the Mizzou Law faculty this summer as a visiting associate professor. Before teaching at Mizzou, Professor Meyer started his own law practice in Columbia. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked at Lear Werts LLP a plaintiff-centered litigation firm where he represented clients in employment, consumer protection, wage and hour, and class action cases and worked in multidistrict litigation and mass torts practice. Paul Litton Named New Dean of the MU School of Law

University of Missouri Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Latha Ramchand announced today that Paul Litton has been named dean of the MU School of Law. Litton has served as interim dean of the school since July 2022, following the departure of Lyrissa Lidsky. He will assume his new duties on June 1, 2023. “In his 17 years at the university, Paul Litton has demonstrated an unwavering commitment not only to student success and legal scholarship of the highest caliber, but also to graduating and supplying the state of Missouri with the legal talent we need,” Ramchand said.

2023 Tim Heinsz Race Raises Record Money for Scholarships

Despite the colder weather this weekend, Mizzou Law’s 19th Tim Heinsz Race was a resounding success, raising $63,390 for the Tim Heinsz Scholarship Fund— a record in the history of the event. The atmosphere was lively as students, faculty, alumni and community members gathered at the starting line just outside of Hulston Hall. Congratulations to the Missouri Law Review and OUTLaw for being named Spring 2023 recipients of the Michelle Arnopol Cecil Student Group Endowment Award. The Missouri Law Review was awarded $1,200 for funds to be used toward technology improvements in the Law Review Office. OUTLaw was awarded $1,300 for funds to be used for the OUTLaw-hosted Variety Show event as well as a student scholarship. Mizzou Law Student, Veterans Clinic Director File Amicus Brief in the US Supreme Court

On March 29, Mizzou Law 2L Katherine Frerking and Professor Angela Drake, director of the MU Veterans Clinic, filed an amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court for an upcoming case. The case, Skaar v. McDonough, is a putative class action involving hundreds of veterans who were exposed to large amounts of radioactive plutonium dust when they participated in a “clean up” following the collision of two Air Force planes above Palomares, Spain in the 1960s. The University of Missouri School of Law is driving forward equality in the legal profession by cultivating an ever-growing number of successful women lawyers. Out of 422 judges in Missouri, 138 are women. That’s just over 30%. Three of those women — all Mizzou Law graduates — sit on the bench of the state’s supreme court. Others serve on the court of appeals, circuit courts and as commissioners. On March 10, Mizzou Law and the School of Journalism had the honor of welcoming back former dean and renowned media law scholar Lyrissa Lidsky, alongside nine other panelists, for a Missouri Law Review Symposium about the future of New York Times v. Sullivan. This symposium, which comes less than a year after the landmark decision to overturn Roe v.
