Mizzou Law Student, Assistant Dean Emeritus, Win Carnahan Awards
Walter Jackson, 3L and Assistant Dean Emeritus Bob Bailey, will be honored today, Feb. 8, with Mel Carnahan Awards. Walter Jackson is receiving the Carnahan Award for Legal Scholarship while Dean Bob Bailey is receiving the Carnahan Award for Public Service at the Governor’s Mansion in Jefferson City. The Mel Carnahan Award is an initiative of the Carnahan Policy Institute. Each year, the institute grants the award to individuals who have made outstanding contributions in education, law and public service in Missouri. Assistant Dean Emeritus Bob Bailey Named 2022 Legal Champion
Robert G. Bailey, assistant dean emeritus of the University of Missouri School of Law, was honored with a 2022 Legal Champion award by Missouri Lawyers Media. Bailey was recognized alongside Pamela Meanes and Casey Wong for their work chairing a special committee within The Missouri Bar to increase the retention of diverse lawyers in the legal profession. Bailey joined Meanes in structuring the committee and leading this group of diverse and non-diverse lawyers in working together. Veterans Day is a special day in our country as we honor our veterans who have sacrificed so much of themselves for us and this nation. It is a good time to remember that our freedom isn’t guaranteed. It is and has been protected by the men and women in our Armed Services since before this nation came into being. 17th Annual TH5K set for April 17
The 17th annual Tim Heinsz 5K, 10K & Jim Devine Dog Walk & Bob Bailey Bike Ride is set for Saturday, April 17 at Twin Lakes Recreation Area in Columbia. This event celebrates the extraordinary impact these three men have had on students at Mizzou Law and across campus. It will be held rain or shine. The event includes a variety of categories for participants: a competitive 5K/10K run, a “just for fun” 5K/10K run or walk, a 15K bike ride, a leisurely dog walk, and a kids fun run.
