Carter Brooks Templeton is an attorney with a strong commitment to serving those who have bravely served our country. Currently, he serves as an attorney at the University of Missouri School of Law Veterans Clinic, where he applies his knowledge of veterans’ law to help veterans and their families access the benefits they deserve. Carter has numerous family members who have served in the armed forces, including both of his grandfathers who served in World War II, specifically in the Battle of the Bulge. It is because of their stories and sacrifices that he initially gained an interest and passion for serving veterans and their families.
Prior to joining the Veterans Clinic, Carter practiced appellate litigation at the law firm of Chisholm, Chisholm, and Kilpatrick, located in Providence, Rhode Island, focusing his practice on veterans’ law.
Carter is a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Law and Truman State University, where he earned his law degree and undergraduate degree, respectively. Before embarking on his legal career, Carter gained valuable experience working in policy in Missouri state government, including the Missouri Attorney General’s Office and Missouri State Treasurer’s Office.
Carter currently resides in Alexandria, Virgina, with his wife, Lara (who is also a University of Missouri School of Law graduate). Carter is an avid reader and sports fan. In his free time, he enjoys taking his dog Nora on walks around Old Town Alexandria and cheering on the Chicago Cubs and Mizzou Tigers.
Carter is admitted to practice law in Missouri and in the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims, and he is a member of the Missouri Bar Association.
