About Christopher G. Hamm, Jr.

Professor Christopher Hamm, Jr., is an adjunct associate professor teaching Corporate Taxation. In addition to teaching, he currently serves as an assistant circuit attorney in the White-Collar Crime Unit of the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office (CAO), where he engages in criminal and civil litigation, including prosecution of tax and business fraud cases.

Prior to joining Mizzou Law and the CAO, Professor Hamm was a Corporate Tax and Mergers and Acquisitions attorney, working for Big Four Accounting firms PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and Deloitte LLP. He practiced in the areas of corporate tax, international tax, and mergers and acquisitions, specifically providing tax guidance for transactions with Fortune 100 multi-national clients. At these firms, he gained unique perspective of the ever-changing tax landscape, working through the three most recent overhauls of U.S. and International Corporate Tax Codes (BREXIT, 2016 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and 2019 CARES Act).

Professor Hamm earned both his BBA in Accounting and Master of Science in Accountancy and Taxation from the University of Cincinnati. Thereafter, he worked as a tax analyst for a global process controls manufacturer for some years before attending and earning his juris doctor from the University of Missouri. As a law student at Mizzou, he served as president of Black Law Students Association, was a member the Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Team, held externships with U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Western District of Missouri, U.S. Tax Court, and held internships with PricewaterhouseCoopers and the Association of Corporate Counsel of St. Louis. Professor Hamm’s previous teaching experience includes serving as a tutor, teaching assistant and graduate assistant professor. He has taught Financial and Managerial Accounting at University of Cincinnati, and Finance at  University of Missouri’s Trulaske College of Business.
