About George R. Brand

Professor Brand grew up in Columbia and is a proud Mizzou Tiger, having earned both his JD and MBA degrees from the University of Missouri in 2019. Before joining the faculty, he taught English in Thailand, led backpacking treks in the European Alps, and practiced law in Kansas City.

His legal experience encompasses a variety of complex litigation, including class and collective actions, as well as multidistrict litigation (MDL) involving antitrust, mass torts, and employment matters. Professor Brand has practiced in federal and state courts across the country. He remains actively connected to the legal community by serving as an elected delegate to the Missouri Bar Young Lawyers Section Council.

Professor Brand loves teaching at Mizzou and helping students learn more about the legal system and preparing to make the transition from school to professional practice. More importantly, he enjoys inspiring students to become the best versions of themselves. He teaches in Mizzou’s Trulaske College of Business and School of Law. His business school students selected him as the overall winner of the Trulaske Teaching Excellence Award in 2024. At Mizzou Law, he teaches Life Skills for Lawyers and Wine Law.
