Officials at the University of Missouri School of Law are thrilled to announce a new hire that promises to bolster the Mizzou Law faculty this summer. Professor C. Eric Hintz will join Mizzou Law as an associate professor of law. He will begin work in Hulston Hall on July 1.
Professor Hintz will be joining Mizzou Law from Shapiro Arato Bach LLP, a New York litigation boutique, where he has represented clients in criminal appellate, post-conviction, and civil litigation matters. Professor Hintz also currently serves as a Lecturer in Law at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, where he teaches federal habeas corpus.
Professor Hintz’s research and teaching interests include issues relating to criminal procedure and post-conviction review, and the intersection between criminal and civil procedure. His scholarship has appeared in the Penn State Law Review, the Seton Hall Law Review, and the U.C. Davis Law Review Online.
“We are very excited that Eric Hintz is joining the Mizzou Law faculty,” Mizzou Law Dean Paul Litton said. “He is doing important research at the intersection of civil and criminal procedure, and he brings a passion for teaching and mentoring students.”
Prior to joining Mizzou Law, Professor Hintz served as a law clerk to Judge Kent A. Jordan of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and Judge Robert E. Payne of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. He also worked as an associate at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP and as a research fellow at Penn Law’s Quattrone Center for the Fair Administration of Justice.
Professor Hintz received his JD from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he graduated Order of the Coif and served as a notes editor on the Virginia Law Review. Before law school, he also received a master’s degree in global security studies, summa cum laude, from Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Emory University.
