Each year, three faculty awards are given to Mizzou Law faculty members: one for a scholarly work, one for teaching, and one for the administration of justice.
At the annual faculty and staff luncheon to begin the 2026-27 academic year, Mizzou Law Dean Paul Litton announced the winners of the 2026 Mizzou Law Faculty Awards, which were given to Professors Rachel Wechsler, Chelseá Mitchell, Thom Lambert and Sandra Sperino. Husch Blackwell Distinguished Faculty Achievement Award
This award is given for teaching excellence, and the recipient is chosen by the Missouri Law Review editorial board.
This years’ awardee is Professor Rachel Wechsler.
Loyd E. Roberts Memorial Prize in the Administration of Justice
The Loyd E. Roberts Memorial Prize in the Administration of Justice was established to honor the Mizzou Law professor or student who has made the most significant contribution to improving the administration of justice, either within Missouri, nationally or internationally.
This year’s award goes to Professor Chelseá Mitchell for her work as the director of the Mizzou Law Criminal Practice Clinic.
Shook, Hardy & Bacon LLP Excellence in Research Award
The Shook, Hardy & Bacon LLP Excellence in Research Award is presented each year for excellence in research based on a published article. The recipient of the award is selected by the dean upon the advice and recommendation of a committee consisting of School of Law faculty and members of the firm of Shook, Hardy & Bacon LLP.
Professor Thom Lambert received this award for his article, “The Essence of an Antitrust Violation,” published in the UC Law Journal.

Professor Sandra Sperino received this award for her article, “When is Discrimination Harmful,” published in the Washington University Law Review.
