Mizzou Law mock trial teams excelled at the recent National Trial Competition regional, hosted by Washburn University in Kansas. Mizzou Law’s two teams, Team Black and Team Gold competed against 24 teams from law schools across six states, including Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas and New Mexico.
Team Black, featuring Rachel Carlson, Steven Flanders and Jordan Vitiello, won its first four trials, making it all the way to the Final Four before being narrowly defeated.

Team Gold, featuring Grant Slusher, Dallas Welling and Grayson Henry, also performed well, winning their first three rounds of trials before losing by a razor-thin margin in the round of eight.
This is the second consecutive year that both Mizzou teams went undefeated throughout the preliminary rounds and earned top seeds in the quarterfinals. This is also the 10th time in the past 11 seasons that Mizzou has sent at least one team to the Final Four.
Special thanks to Mizzou Law alumni and professors who volunteered their time to help the students prepare for competition. These include Professor Chuck Henson, Professor Chelsea Mitchell, Delaney (Catlettstout) Timpe, ’21, Grace Rowden, ’25, Ethan Deimeke, ’25, and Emily Allison.
