This spring, the University of Missouri School of Law received a $10 million estate gift from a confidential donor. This gift is the largest single donation to Mizzou Law in the school’s 152-year history.
The gift was giving to support the dean’s discretionary fund, which will allow Dean Paul Litton to utilize the funds to support the school’s areas of greatest need.
“We cannot thank our generous alumnus enough for this incredible gift,” Dean Litton said. “Our primary mission is to educate the finest lawyers for Missouri and beyond, and this record-setting gift will significantly benefit our students and enhance the educational experience we will provide for them.”
Chelsea Coursey, the Mizzou Law executive director of advancement at Mizzou Law, says this estate gift is an example of how donors can use planned giving to make transformational changes to Mizzou Law and its students.
“This planned gift will make a significant impact, shaping the course of tomorrow with the generosity of today,” Coursey said. “We are profoundly thankful for the philanthropic focus of this incredible donor, a testament to their enduring commitment to the University of Missouri School of Law and the impact it will have for years to come.”
The confidential donor is a Mizzou Law alumnus and has long been an ardent supporter of the university and the School of Law.
“I have been so fortunate to get to know our donor, and I know that this incredible gift is a testament to the great education he received at Mizzou Law and its impact on his life, as well as to the continued excellence and trajectory of our school,” Dean Litton said. “We are so grateful and honored by his generosity.”
