About Alexander Gouzoules

Professor Gouzoules arrives at Mizzou Law from Loyola University-New Orleans College of Law, where he taught as a Westerfield Fellow. His recent scholarship focuses on public policy issues that arise from private law systems, including corporate law and bankruptcy. He also writes in the field of constitutional law and on the subject of law and religion. His publications have appeared in journals including the Boston College Law Review, the Buffalo Law Review and the Indiana Law Review. They have been cited in a variety of academic journals, as well as in appellate and Supreme Court briefs filed by practitioners.

Previously, Professor Gouzoules served as a law clerk to Judge William H. Walls of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. He practiced commercial law as an associate, first at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison and later at Willkie Farr & Gallagher, focusing on complex business cases, bankruptcy litigation, and white-collar defense. Subsequently, he served as a Steven Gey Litigation Fellow at Americans United for Separation of Church and State, where he focused on First Amendment cases. Professor Gouzoules graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School.
