Professor Dennis Crouch cited in Washington Post article

Dennis Crouch, an associate professor of law and director of the Center for Intellectual Property and Entrepreneurship at the University of Missouri School of Law, was cited this week in an article in the Washington Post.

The article references Professor Crouch’s 2022 study of Federal Circuit patent decisions statistically showing what was already common knowledge – that the outcome often depend upon which judges are on the panel.  The study was published on Professor Crouch’s renowned patent blog, Patently-O last May.

The Washington Post article discusses the ongoing controversy between Judge Pauline Newman and Chief Judge Kimberly Moore. Professor Crouch’s work shows that these are the two the most “patentee-friendly” judges on the court.
