Myuah Hamilton, a rising 3L at Mizzou Law, presented this summer at the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Foundation Student Law Academy for high school students. Hamilton spoke about her my journey through undergraduate and into law school to the newest cohort of the academy, which consists of 25 high school students from KC Metro schools who are considering a profession in the law.
This was full circle moment for Hamilton, considering that she sat in the same seats as the scholars six years ago as an attendee of the Student Law Academy herself.
“Being on the other side of the podium brought so many emotions, Hamilton said.” “I am so proud of how far I have come in such a short time, yet still so humbled to be able to speak life into someone else. I hope that even just one thing I said today motivated them to run their own race and stay committed to their goals.”

The KCMBA Student Law Academy provides students who are attending Kansas City’s school districts, especially those in historically marginalized areas, meaningful exposure to careers in the legal profession and a broad overview of the legal system. SLA collaborates with local law firms, courts, and other legal entities to provide students with a dynamic, paid summer program. SLA works within PREP-KC’s six school districts and three charter schools (Allen Village, Center, Crossroads Academy, Independence, KCKPS, KCPS, Grandview, Guadalupe Centers, and Hickman) to select juniors and seniors in high school as SLA Scholars.
