A scholarship that has supported University of Missouri School of Law students for more than 30 years is getting a new focus.
The former Coburn & Croft Scholarship Fund has been renamed the LSF Thompson Coburn Leadership Scholarship, reflecting the law firm’s evolution and placing a greater emphasis on leadership among Mizzou Law students.
The scholarship was established in 1992 and under the renewed partnership between Thompson Coburn and Mizzou Law, preference will be given to incoming 1L students who demonstrate outstanding leadership and exemplary academic achievement.
For students, the scholarship provides more than financial assistance. It also creates opportunities to build connections with attorneys and the broader legal community as they begin their legal careers.
“I am honored and grateful for the generous support of the Thompson Coburn Scholarship,” said Maggie Borgard, a first-year law student and 2026 scholarship recipient. “This scholarship makes it possible for me to look forward to my career as an attorney without the stress of financial burden.”
Fellow 1L Hannah Rowland said the scholarship has allowed her to focus more fully on her education and involvement at Mizzou Law.
“The opportunity to pursue a legal education is a dream come true,” Rowland said. “I hope to make the absolute most of my time here, and I cannot wait for what’s to come.”
The scholarship will continue to support future generations of Mizzou Law students through the University of Missouri Law School Foundation.
