Applicants must receive a foreign degree, either an undergraduate or professional degree, prior to matriculation into Mizzou Law.

An applicant’s primary contact with the admissions committee is through their application. All responses will be considered by the committee when evaluating an applicant. While admissions personnel are pleased to answer any questions an applicant may have, however, evaluative interviews are not a part of the admissions process except at the admissions committee’s request.

The admissions committee seeks to admit persons of both high ability and good character. It is imperative that applicants are completely candid and forthright in completing the application. If and the applicant is unsure about disclosing information regarding past legal transgressions they should disclose them.

An applicant’s file is considered incomplete and cannot be evaluated until all of the information below is received by the admissions office. An applicant will receive an e-mail notification from the admissions office when their file is complete and sent to the admissions committee. This is not an automatic process so please allow for up to seven days once an application has been submitted. Applicants are encouraged to check their spam and promotions folders for these email updates.

• The following items are REQUIRED:
  1. All applicants must take the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) and register for the Credential Assembly Service (CAS). An applicant may register for the test and service at the same time or separately. LSAT scores and CAS subscriptions are good for five years from the testing date. CAS has created the JD Credential Assembly Service for foreign-educated JD Applicants. This service will function as transcript evaluation/translation service (similar to WES) Upon submission of an applicant’s Mizzou Law application for admission we will request their CAS information (which includes your LSAT score(s), academic transcript(s) and letters of recommendation) from LSAC. The information will be sent to us directly by CAS (this process can take up to two weeks). Please note that CAS will not forward us any of the application information until ALL required documents and payments are submitted. It is the applicant’s responsibility to monitor the status of his or her account with CAS.
  2. Complete the Mizzou Law 2017 Application for Admission and pay the $60 application fee.
  3. A personal statement approximately two pages in length. Suggested topics include an applicant’s motivations for studying law, their greatest accomplishments, or a significant obstacle they have overcome. However, applicants can write about whatever topic they choose. Somewhere in the statement and the applicant is asked to briefly address why they are interested in Mizzou Law. We do not recommend explaining any legal or educational issues associated with an applicant in their personal statement. If needed, those issues can be addressed in a separate addendum.
     1. An applicant may submit any separate addendum as necessitated by the application.
  4. Two letters of recommendation (up to four are accepted), preferably from professors or individuals who can attest to an applicant’s academic abilities. There is no specific form required for letters of recommendation. Letters can be submitted through CAS (recommended) or directly to the Mizzou Law Admissions Office.
  5. A resume. Recommended information includes education, employment, activities, community service, volunteer efforts, etc. An applicants resume can be as many pages as required to adequately express accomplishments, activities, etc.
  6. TOEFL score. Applicants whose native language is not English must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). For more information on the requirements please refer to this page.

Mizzou Law encourages applicants to provide in writing whatever they wish the committee to consider. An applicants file can be updated at any time including resume and academic performance. Should the committee wish to speak directly to an applicant, they will be contacted by the admissions office.

Should an international applicant be admitted to Mizzou Law they will then be required to provide an affidavit of support and supporting bank statement/letter.

Note: There are no scholarship funds available for international students.
