Transfer applicants must submit all of the following information to be considered for admissions. We strongly encourage applicants to apply through LSAC. The transfer application requires certain materials an applicant has already submitted to LSAC during the first year JD application which can expedite the process.

• The following items are REQUIRED:
  1. Complete the Mizzou Law Transfer Application for Admission and pay the $60 application fee. Transfer applications are only accepted for fall admission.
  2. Course Descriptions and Course Syllabi for all completed law school coursework. An applicant can pull the descriptions directly from their law school’s course directory but must also submit a course syllabus. These should be as detailed as possible.
  3. An applicant’s Credential Assembly Service (CAS) report including undergraduate transcripts and an LSAT score.
  4. A resume. Recommended information includes education, employment, activities, community service, volunteer efforts, etc. An applicants resume can be as many pages as required to adequately express accomplishments, activities, etc.
  5. A brief statement explaining why an applicant desires to transfer to Mizzou Law.
     A personal statement and letters of recommendation are optional.
  6. A letter of good standing from the law school that the applicant currently attends. The letter must state that the applicant is in good standing, eligible to return to that law school and the applicant’s class rank.
  7. Official transcripts of all law school coursework attempted and completed.

Mizzou Law does not have a specific application deadline for transfer applicants. Most transfer applicants apply in late May or in early June after their winter/spring semester law school grades are posted.

Decisions on transfer student applications are only made after all supporting documents are received and reviewed by the admissions committee. The committee usually takes anywhere from one week to ten days to render a decision once an applicant’s file is complete.

Other Information

• Mizzou Law does not have a specific number of seats available for transfer applicants and the number of transfer students varies from year to year.
• A maximum of 30 credit hours can be transferred into Mizzou Law.
• The admissions committee generally looks for a “B” average in a transfer student’s law school grades.
• Students seeking to transfer should be aware that transfer students might not qualify for certain academic awards and might not be able to participate in certain law school activities.
